City2City

UNDP supported SDG implementation, taking a two-pronged approach of developing a relevant service offering at a national and sub-national level. At the sub-national level, UNDP has obtained UB city's commitment to translate the national Sustainable Development Vision 2030, the Mongolia's version of the Agenda 2030, into its city plans and priorities. This was significant considering the fact that half of the country's population reside in the UB city. To this end, UNDP signed a five-year MOU with the UB city for piloting SDV and SDG’s localization in UB city. In addition, implementation of a 2nd pilot looking at mainstreaming of SDGs into sub-national planning and development processes was initiated in an additional province with highest poverty rate in the country. These initiatives were part of the recently launched project 'Preparatory assistance to implementation of SDGs in Mongolia' aiming to mainstream SDGs into sub/national plans and sectoral policies, and identify entry points for SDG acceleration, including in urban settings.
