Date and Time: 31 March 2021 | 8 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Organized by: Urban, Disaster Risk Management, Resilience & Land Global Practice (GPURL) at the World Bank
City local governments have been facing multiple challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic to secure adequate financial resources for response and recovery. The report being launched assesses the impact of the pandemic on local governments’ financial situations through cross-country analysis and comparison. In the report three indicative types of local government adjustments are discussed and scenario analysis is used to highlight the risks and uncertainties associated with the pandemic’s impact and subsequent economic recovery. During the event an overview of the report’s findings will be given and a panel will share their municipal finance experiences during the pandemic and discuss the implications.
