Learning from cities in crisis: Metropolitan perspectives on fragility and resilience

by World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis) | UNDP

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on cities and metropolitan spaces have highlighted the urgent need to develop new adaptable tools to cope and prepare for emerging challenges.

What's more, we need increased coordination between institutions to respond to governance challenges at the metropolitan scale.

Building on the experiences from cities and metropolitan spaces in fragile and conflict-affected areas, this webinar, in partnership with UNDP, will allow participants to identify solutions that can help cities and metropolitan spaces become more resilient.

This event was held on 16 February 2021. The discussion was moderated by Amy Gill (Local Governance Policy Speacialist, UNDP) with closing remarks from Octavi de la Varga (Secretary General, Metropolis). It also included presentations by Dr. Philipp Rode (Executive Director of LSE Cities) and the cities of Ramallah, Palestine, and Diyala, Iraq.
